The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Ogbomoso North chapter, has called on the Federal and state governments to increase investment in the welfare and professional development of teachers working in private schools.
The call was made as part of activities marking the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, with the association stressing that teachers in private schools form an important part of Nigeria’s education workforce.
NAPPS Chairman, Ogbomoso North, Pst. Wale Ojewumi, said government support should go beyond public-school teachers and extend to educators in private institutions.
He called for greater access to professional development, digital-skills training, modern teaching methods and leadership development, alongside improved welfare and working conditions.
The association also called for stronger government investment in education financing, arguing that better-supported teachers are essential to improving learning outcomes.
