Federal Government Opens Applications for 2027/2028 Commonwealth Scholarships in the UK
The Federal Ministry of Education has invited applications from qualified Nigerian university graduates for the 2027/2028 Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowship Plan (CSFP).

The Federal Ministry of Education has invited applications from qualified Nigerian university graduates for the 2027/2028 Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowship Plan (CSFP).
The scholarships are for study in the United Kingdom and cover two categories: one-year taught Master’s programmes and Doctoral programmes of up to three years.
For Master’s applicants, candidates must have at least a Second Class Upper in their first degree. Doctoral applicants must have a relevant Master’s degree and at least a Second Class Lower in their first degree.
Applicants are also required to have admission into at least two UK institutions, while PhD applicants must provide a supporting statement from a prospective supervisor at their chosen UK institutions. Evidence of NYSC is also required.
Applications are to be completed through the Electronic Application System (EAS), with supporting documents uploaded online. The deadline for submission is 20 October 2026.
The Federal Ministry of Education identified several priority areas for applicants’ proposed fields of study, including Education, Health, Economic Growth and the Private Sector, Governance and Conflict, Climate and Environment, Engineering, Science and Technology, Food and Nutrition, and Humanitarian Disasters and Emergencies.
The official notice states that applications will be assessed based on academic merit, development impact on completion of the study, and quality of the study plan.
